Signing

We've been signing to Samara basically since she came home from the hospital. She couldn't even see us and we were doing the signs for eat, bath, etc. This past weekend, she finally signed back to us. The books said around 8-9 months but 12 months is good too! She seems to understand the signs and has for a long time but it has taken her this long to do it back. She is doing the sign for "all done" which is super helpful since I never know when she's done eating. She will sit at her high chair for 30+ minutes and I'll just assume she's done. I take her out and then she eats food off the floor! Now, I don't have to guess anymore. I know it seems small but it's strangely exciting!

And now, for some completely unrelated pictures!

Because Tot is/was so difficult she didn't use a single sign until AFTER she started talking. Figures.

YAY!

Isn't it great to really communicate with her.

Tristan still signs some things instead of saying them. All done and more were his firsts. Like you said they are so helpful.

HI!

I found this blog randomly looking at signing stuff .... I've signed with my now 18 month old since he was a few months old ... he signed a few words but I noticed only if he could do the sign correctly ... he really started signing after watching Baby Signing Time ... my theory is that he sees others kids/babies signing "incorrectly" (not the perfect copy of the adult sign) and felt more confident because he still has some fine motor finger issues. I believe there are some short clips on utube.

So exciting! Maddy signs "all done" too, and she seems so pleased with herself that she can tell us what she wants. She does "more" too, but not as consistently, and she can do "light," which is not very useful. Hopefully Samara will start doing many more signs soon!
