Therapy
Don't worry, I haven't jumped off any ledges since my last post. I did take my little munchkin to the park and treated myself to a Michaels trip though. Now we're both A-OK and eagerly awaiting Shawn's return!

So Hard
This week was So Hard. Those words deserve capitals. And I know the week isn't over yet. But, for me, the hardest part will be over because tonight Shawn comes home.
Shawn out of town for work + Samara being sick - any help = ME*
*Tired, still sick, cranky, out of patience, depressed and lonely mom who feels like she has failed at parenting alone, failed her daughter and failed her husband.
Right now I really miss Shawn. And Samara being healthy. And family. And friends. Right now I really hate being in Lethbridge.
Maybe this post is a bit too honest. But it's real life so I'm publishing it...

Fashion Statement / Fashion Victim
Sammy is starting to make choices about what she wears. I had ONE pair of BabyLegs to go with her shirt. That wasn't good enough. She kept bringing me pairs to put on. The result? Well, you decide!

Then and Now
I don't know why but looking back at these pictures makes me sad and nostalgic. I feel like I wished Samara from a baby to a little girl. Babies are hard but they are little for such a short period of time. I hope to savour every moment of this next baby for now I truly understand how quickly they grow up...which isn't to say that I love this stage any less. Chubby, cuddly babies are just irresistible!

30 weeks
Wow. 30 weeks! 10 to go. Hard to believe, this pregnancy has been flying by. I've gained 22 pounds. At this rate, it seems like I won't hit the 50+ from last time (thankfully).
The cashier at Wal Mart the other day said she was certain I was having a boy and that she is never wrong. Your prediction?

First Day Blues...
Today, Samara and I went to University. Bet you didn't know she was that advanced, hey?! Actually, the Kindermusik program is taught there. It was quite expensive but we figured Sam would love it and really benefit from it. It's no secret that we consider music an important part of our lives so this was her first "formal" introduction.
In order to bore you less, I will condense how it went into 2 lists.
PROS
-I parked in the wrong parking lot and the attendant/security guard let me know where I could park and then changed his mind and said I could park where I was for free! FREE! My favorite!
-Samara LOVED the University. There was so much to see and she tried to take as much in as possible. She was also a big hit with the older "kids" who all talked about her as soon as they saw her.
CONS
-Notice I said nothing about the class?! The class is for kids between the ages of 18 months and 3 years. It seems like everything we go in right now, Samara is at that in between age. If she goes in the younger classes, it's all babies who aren't even crawling yet. If she goes in the older class, she's clearly too young/small for it.
-Samara is much too active to sit in a circle for 45 minutes. Even during our regular storytime at the library, she is up and exploring for most of the duration. Here, it seemed like it was a big no-no for her to do that so I kept trying to wrangle her back into the circle which only pissed her off.
-What more can I say, I tried to force her to do the activities and she wanted to run around the room exploring. I can't blame her. I just wonder how the other moms get their kids to sit so well?? Does it come with age? If so, I wonder why they let Samara into this group...
-It was so frustrating for me (AND Samara) that she cried a few times, I very nearly joined her some of those times and I considered leaving a few times as well. But, we're both champs so we'll practice the activities during the week and be back next week...and for the next 13 weeks! (WHAT HAVE I DONE?!)

This and That
- I went for a haircut today. Why is this big news? Well, in 3 years, this is only the 3rd one! I went crazy and got a trim. My hairdresser came recommended by a friend and he was good. He wasn't gay either. Weird, hey? I've had plenty of male hairdressers over the years and every single one was gay.
- Sam and I went swimming again today. She liked it a bit better but didn't love it. I don't blame her. Swimming in people soup is not my idea of fun either.
- I feel quite a bit better today. I even worked out. Now I just have a nagging cough. Normally a cough wouldn't bother me but now I have to try not to pee myself when I cough. My belly button also feels like it's going to pop off during a cough. You can actually see it expanding. When I touch it, it's actually sore from being stretched so much today. EWWWWW.
- I really want a pop. Orange, root beer, Dr. Pepper, Coke...doesn't really matter as long as it's not diet.

Paranoia
I wonder if the paranoia that comes the second you discover you're pregnant ever goes away? I mean, 16.5 months into this, I'm still kind of a freak. A couple of weeks ago, Sam got a red bump on her eyelid. I figured it was a stye. Slightly painful and annoying, but no big deal. Then a week turned into 2 and it still hadn't gone away. I envisioned Sam losing her vision because I'd misdiagnosed her and missed valuable treatment time. So off to the doctor I go today...in the pouring rain and when I can hardly feel like moving I'm so sick...only to discover that it is in fact a stye. A stye that will go away on its own.
The plus side is that it got me to shower today.

A Case of the Mondays...
We've got a case of the Mondays in our house.
- I went to bed feeling perfectly healthy and woke up to a doozy of a cold. It has knocked me off my feet. I didn't even work out today and I haven't missed a workout since I started 17 weeks ago. I blame going to the play centre with Sam last week...everywhere I looked there were kids with snotty noses. Does no one stay home anymore when they're sick?!
- Samara is extra umm....needy today, yes, that's a nice way to say it! She is either picking up on my bad sickie vibes or is feeling a touch under the weather herself.
- Yesterday when I was driving the van, it started smelling. Like it was burning 27 kinds of foul plastic. I'm hoping that by not driving it today that the problem will miraculously disappear. Because that always works, right?!
- Samara is now sleeping in the baby's room for the week so Shawn can prep and paint her room. After the blue disaster, I'm a bit anxious to see how her color turns out!
- I did more sewing this weekend. Head over to my Etsy site to see the latest! Just a reminder that there is free shipping for my Blog friends!

This and That
* Shawn painted the baby's room this week. We chose this really fabulous grayish green. Very neutral and not at all a typical baby color. Guess what color it looks like on the walls? BABY BLUE. Completely, completely blue. And pastel and everything baby boy. Which totally means we're having a girl. Now I'm a bit worried about the color we chose for Samara's room. It's a taupey (is that a word?!) purple color which is just a tad bit girlish but still quite neutral and not over the top. It's probably going to show up incredibly baby pink.
* Today was Samara and I's first day of swimming lessons. I was really, really dreading it. I had already made peace with the fact that I would have to be in pee water and that my bare feet might touch someone else's feet germs. What I couldn't get past was that I would be in a bathing suit in front of PEOPLE. And not just any bathing suit, a bikini. I completely realize there are other bathing suits for sale, ones designed especially to flatter a woman's pregnant body. But they're ridiculously expensive for just a couple of month's use and my bikinis still fit me so I thought why not. At least...I thought why not until it actually came time to display it. It went fine though...I rocked it as best as I could and it didn't appear like people were pointing and whispering!
* Sam, by the way, enjoyed about 1/2 of the swimming class and spent the 2nd half clutched to me with her head on my shoulder. Good cuddle time if nothing else!
* I did not enjoy the fact that it seemed like everyone in the class all knew each other from other programs and all their kids were WAY younger than Samara. She seriously looked like she was in the wrong class and that her delinquent mom had signed her up incorrectly.
* It's raining and I'm in a rotten mood. Can you tell?!

Go HERE!

Some firsts to report...
On Sunday night...
* First time Samara had a raging fever.
* First time Samara threw up FOR REAL (none of this spit up nonsense).
* First time I've been throw up on!
* First time I've slept on the floor in Samara's room.
She seemed fine after throwing up multiple times. Yesterday she was a tad bit warm but besides that was back to her normal self.

Art Gone Bad
It all started (like everything does) quite innocently.
I'm bored, let's do something fun!
How about crayons?
Yep, pretty fun!
See how good I am?!
I'm playing so well on my own that sure, Mommy, go unload the dishwasher!
Sucker!! Mommy falls for it every time!
So delicious that I must eat all of the chunks!
What do you mean, never again?!

28 weeks
These weekly updates are just coming up way too fast for me now. I'm not ready! We haven't painted! We haven't bought a crib! I haven't figured out how to spread myself evenly over 2 kids!
Like it or not though, December 3rd is rapidly advancing. Shawn's prepping the room to paint and we're (HE is) going to do Samara's too. Baby Days started at Toys R Us today so I'm hoping to see a nice crib for free there. That is what Baby Days is, right? Free stuff?!

Being Pregnant - The Honest Truth
Last night, we went grocery shopping at Wal Mart. I had a coughing fit and nearly pissed my pants.
I suppose if I had to pick a public place to piss myself, Wal Mart would probably be one of the more inconspicuous places?!

Sammy's New Ride
To enter my Halloween giveaway, go here!
After MUCH research and debate, we finally settled on a jogging/biking trailer. Sammy loves it and it is the easiest thing ever to push. I've only used it once with Shawn and once by myself and it's already my favorite stroller of all the ones we've acquired. And, as you can tell from the picture, it will easily fit baby #2 as well.
Don't worry...when we use it, we actually strap her in. And put the wheels on!
