Reading
If there is one thing I could choose to pass on to my kids, it would be a love of reading. I have always been a "reader". I remember going to the library as a kid and being in such wonder of all the books there...choosing my "stash" for the week, coming home and reading the afternoon away. I'm so pleased that when it gets really quiet and Samara has disappeared, I can usually find her in her room, "reading". She chooses a book to take to bed with her as well...we laugh every night when we turn off the light and shut the door, imagining her "reading" her book in the dark!

Amelia reads her books in the dark as well. She keeps three under her pillow at all times "in case I need to read a story in the night", she says. In the mornings I can hear her telling her friends a story. It's so cute. The love of reading is a great gift to give. I wish my boys would appreciate it more but my girls sure do.
It is pretty fundamental for us and encourages creative thinking.
she sure is cute
I don't know if I've asked before, but what kind of camera and lenses do you use? Your photography is beautiful!
Thanks, Katherine! I'm just starting out and have LOTS to learn. I'm using a Canon Rebel XS. I just bought a 50mm f1.8 lens about a month ago and it's making a HUGE difference.
Sounds EXACTLY like what I have :) I do love the 1.8!
As a teacher, on leave to be a stay at home mom, I can't agree more. Reading is one of the loves that will only make your child's world that much more richer. Good for you for making it part of Samara's life!
I couldn't agree with you more! I desperately hope my girls love to read as much as I do.
We read to Hadley every single day. Both Cole and I are readers and I do hope she gets that from us.
Roo has become quite the reader too - even in bed in the dark. It's funny b/c you can hear her "reading" for about 5 minutes after we shut the door.
Your little reader is stinkin adorable!
