Goals for 2012 - Review

I made these goals at the beginning of the year. It's hard to believe the year is coming to a close today. How did I do?

- live generously.

This goal was my favourite.  I hope to still think of little ways to live generously next year, even though it won't necessarily be on my "goals list".
  • I started volunteering at the library earlier this year and have been picking up and dropping off books for a nice lady who I have developed a friendship with.
  • I'm still donating blood every 56 days and I registered to be on One Match (stem cell and marrow donor).
  • We are still picking up 2 extra items every time we get groceries and the girls love dropping them off in the food bank box on our way out.
  • We regularly send baked goods to Shawn's work for them to enjoy.  I've sent some to Sammy's teachers and to our favourite librarians.  It's mutually beneficial...someone gets a little treat and I'm not stuck consuming all of the calories!
  • I took care of our friend's son for 4 months while they waited for an excellent dayhome to become available.
  • When we go to Tim Hortons, we pay for the order behind us.
- gain 5 pounds. Not by eating ridiculously bad (but oh so good!) but by upping my protein and continuing with good workouts to generate more muscle mass.
  • I did and then I didn't and then I did (by eating ridiculously bad over the holidays!).
- work on my photography skills. This is such an abstract goal that to make it more specific, I'm going to pick up the camera every single day and shoot something...anything. I'm also going to take at least one photography class.
  • I took a beginner's DSLR photography class earlier in the year that was helpful.
  • I'm shooting everything in manual.
  • I failed on taking pictures every day.  It became a chore and sucked all the fun out of photography for me.
- game night.
  • We started off the year doing this.  Then didn't really do it again for months.  Now that the girls are into games, we seem to play regularly anyway, even if we don't have a designated night.
- me time.
  • I've gotten better at taking time for myself when I'm feeling overloaded.  I go for movie nights, coffees, walks with girlfriends and I joined a book club.  I even went for my first trip away from the girls.
How did you do?

Let's see -

1. Run 4 races - nope, BUT I played in 6 ultimate tournaments instead, and ran a lot, so I'll consider this a success.
2. Complete at least one scrapbook page a week. - I didn't quite make it, but I did pretty well.
3. Let go of Maddy's baby stuff - FAIL. Gave quite a bit of stuff to my SIL, but got it all back.
4. Follow a year-long declutter plan - Did 3 months and never got back on track.
5. Spend less time on the computer, especially in the evenings. - not really, but most of my evening computer time is now work.
6. Spend time outside every day. - YES!

Can't wait to see your resolutions for this year and cheer you on!
